The Arsenal forward has been linked with Everton, West Ham United and Marseille, but the latter are not confident of a deal.

According to a report from French newspaper L’Equipe, Marseille are not optimistic of signing target Olivier Giroud this summer, with the Ligue 1 club allegedly feeling the Arsenal man wants to remain in England.

Whether that is at the Gunners or elsewhere remains to be seen, but if it is true it can only be good news for alleged suitors Everton and West Ham United.

Arsenal's Olivier Giroud looks dejected

A recent story from the Sun claimed the Toffees had joined the Hammers in the race for the £20million-rated forward, and given Everton’s presence in Europe next season, and their impressive business to date, they look to be in the box seat if the 30-year-old does move on this summer.

The Everton board have backed manager Ronald Koeman in emphatic fashion already this summer, securing deals for Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen and Henry Onyekuru with an additional striker and another centre-back expected to follow in the next couple of days.

But could Giroud also be on the list?

If Marseille are right and feel the French international has unfinished business in England, it could come down to a simple case of whether or not Arsenal deem him surplus to requirements.

If they do, Everton should be at the front of the queue, and as much as West Ham fans will hate it, the Toffees hold some big advantages right now.

That said, if Giroud favours a stay in London the Hammers could still get their man.

Whatever the case, it seems the forward is not planning on ending his love affair with English football just yet.
