The former Rangers loanee is looking for a new club after being released by Newcastle United.
According to a report from the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United player Haris Vuckic will be the first out the door this summer, with the Magpies opting not to renew the 24-year-old’s contract.
That is no real surprise considering his lack of impact at St James’ Park, but with FC Twente said to be circling, time is running out if former loan club Rangers want to reunite with the Slovenian.
Vuckic enjoyed a fine spell on loan at Ibrox earlier in his career, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 22 appearances, and of all his temporary spells the one he enjoyed at the Gers was by far the most successful.
New Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has a lot of work to do this summer to ensure he signs the right players to get his side challenging Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and it would be interesting to know if anyone at the Gers is recommending a return for Vuckic.
As a free agent, and a player who has already been a success at Ibrox, Vuckic would be a risk-free signing for the Gers. He would also add more creatiity and goal-threat to their side.
That said, Caixinha is his own man and he will have his own targets. The question is, with Twente reportedly planning to make a move, could it prompt Rangers to swoop or reinforce the sense that they are now looking at alternative targets?
