Everton are reportedly open to selling Ashley Williams this summer, and new manager Marco Silva should look no further than West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

Ashley Williams of Everton arrives at the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Southampton at Goodison Park on May 5, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

The Daily Star reports that Everton manager Marco Silva is ready to sanction the sale of Ashley Williams this summer, as he prepares to take charge of his first campaign at Goodison Park.

Williams joined the Toffees in 2016 from Swansea City, but he has largely failed to convince the fans of his worth after a number of questionable performances.

Ashley Williams of Everton warms up prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Watford at Goodison Park on November 5, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

The centre-back struggles when up against pace, and is undeniably in decline at the age of 33. It is certainly an area of the team that Silva needs to strengthen, and he need look no further than West Ham United’s Declan Rice, who the Sun report is locked in a contract stand-off with the club.

Rice’s future is unclear, with the teen now in direct competition for a starting place in the side with new signing Issa Diop at the London Stadium, meaning Everton should take this opportunity to swoop.

Rice has been impressive since properly breaking into the side last term, drawing praise for playing with maturity at such a young age. The 19-year-old made 26 Premier League apppearances in 2017/18, which is a decent amount of experience.

The Republic of Ireland international can also play as a holding midfielder, which would surely make him a very useful player to have in Everton’s squad.

It may take some persuading for West Ham to do business but, if Rice pushes for a move, Everton should do everything they can to get their man; especially with his current deal expiring next summer.
