Everton appear to no longer be targeting a striker so could that give West Ham the opportunity to win the race for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud?

The likelihood of Olivier Giroud leaving Arsenal in the January transfer window has increased after comments from his agent Michael Manuello.
“Now, depending on the offers, we will sit around a table and talk. The most important thing is to know what will be offered or not this winter, to find a better project,” Manuello told French publication Foot Mercato.

Giroud has started just one Premier League match so far this season and wants more first team football in order to make France’s squad for the 2018 World Cup.
The 31-year-old almost left the Emirates Stadium over the summer to join Everton, as reported by Sky Sports, and the Toffees are likely to still be an attractive prospect.
However, according to the Express the most recent interest has come from West Ham United and with manager David Moyes having played Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic as his strike duo in recent times, that should perhaps come as little surprise.

And a report from the Mirror claiming that Theo Walcott and Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi are now Sam Allardyce’s main targets at Goodison Park should give the Hammers hope, as it seems a striker is no longer a priority for the Merseysiders.
Also, the fact that Giroud’s wife is expecting their third child and therefore the Frenchman wants to stay in London means that Moyes could be welcoming the forward as his first signing as West Ham boss.
