Their poor season has seen many of their top young talents linked with an exit, including the likes of Ben Osborn and Joe Worrall.
But whilst Forest were struggling in a battle against the drop, two former Forest players were having a great campaign.
Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow helped Newcastle to the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League.

Lascelles was in the Championship team of the year and captained Newcastle to the title. Darlow played 36 times for the club as Newcastle returned to the top-flight.
The pair headed to Newcastle together in 2015 and Forest fans were left disappointed that two of their best youngsters were sold on.

Forest must learn the lesson from selling their top young talents in 2015 after watching them play such a vital role in a title-winning Championship side. Keeping hold of their best young players at present could be key to a successful future at the City Ground.
