Leeds United have a ready-made replacement for Stuart Dallas in the form of Kemar Roofe.
With Stuart Dallas doubtful for Leeds United’s clash with Derby County this weekend, there is only one sensible option for Whites boss Garry Monk, and that is to play Kemar Roofe from the start.
The 23-year-old arrived at Elland Road in the summer with a big reputation after scoring 31 goals in 64 matches for Oxford United. However, so far he has failed to replicate his best form at Leeds, in no small part due to his use predominantly as a substitute.
Roofe has already come off the bench eight times in the league this season, with Monk yet to really allow the versatile forward a chance to build up a head of steam.
But with Dallas missing Northern Ireland’s clash against Germany with a calf injury, Monk has the chance to pick Roofe from the start and hopefully see his faith rewarded.
After all, the former Oxford player is equally comfortable on the left wing or up front and with Dallas yet top provide a goal or an assist for Leeds this season, surely the time is right to give someone else a chance.
Roofe is a fine talent and it is widely expected that will ultimately come good at Elland Road.
Saturday could be the first of many regular starts for Roofe, with Leeds set to reap the benefits of giving him 90 minutes week in, week out.
