Birmingham City have reportedly made a £5 million for Bristol City’s Aden Flint and Joe Bryan who are also wanted by Leeds United.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Birmingham have made a £5 million bid for both Aden Flint and Joe Bryan, who are both also being pursued by Leeds United this summer.

Based on what the Bristol Post suggested last month about a combined asking price for the pair however, it is hardly a surprise that the Blues appear to have been left disappointed on this occasion – BBC Sport reports that a bid has been rejected – with the report stating that it would take £12 million for a club to prise both men away from Ashton Gate.

While Flint’s future appears to have potentially been decided, with the Bristol Post suggesting that he is on the verge of agreeing a move to unnamed club. perhaps Leeds should look at the Blues’ combined bid as a wake-up call to get a quick deal done for his Robins teammate.

If the Bristol Post’s suggestion about the pair’s asking price is correct, then it would not be a surprise if City demanded a lot more from Birmingham, and Leeds should take advantage in the race for Bryan.

Thomas Christiansen’s men would arguably be taking a gamble letting the window close without signing another left-back with Tyler Denton yet to prove that he can be a genuine rival for Gaetano Berardi in the squad.

The Daily Mirror’s recent suggestion that they were willing to spend £6.4 million on Alvaro Negredo certainly hints that the Whites should have the funds required to trump Birmingham’s offer before they return with another bid.

Leeds will have to move quickly as the Daily Star recently suggested that Blues boss Harry Redknapp has a significant budget to work with, but based on Bryan’s ability and potential, it would arguably prove to be a very smart piece of business from the Yorkshire side if they did decide to step up their efforts to land the left-back.
