If Liverpool don’t want to continue playing James Milner at left-back maybe they would be tempted by Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez.

After a season of James Milner filling in (admittedly doing a decent job) surely Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp will finally sign a new left-back this summer?

If the German does want to bring in a new face in the position then perhaps he should be looking back to the league that made his name as there is an interesting option in the Bundesliga.

That man is Ricardo Rodriguez, who although has been part of a Wolfsburg side who have struggled in the German top flight this season and actually have a two-legged playoff ahead to try and keep their place in the division, still has a good reputation.

Not only that, but as the Express revealed earlier this year Rodriguez actually has a buyout clause in his contract that means he is available for £18.7m.

That is not a bad price for a left-back who has won the German Cup, played almost 150 Bundesliga matches and has 45 caps for his native Switzerland.

Not only that but Rodriguez is something of a set piece specialist and likes to get forward, making him a creative force as well as a defensive one.

However, if the Reds are tempted by the full-back they will need to move quickly with talkSPORT reporting that AC Milan are closing in on a deal for the 24-year-old.
