Leeds United target Samuel Yohou is now a free agent with Paris FC confirming via their official website that the ball-playing centre-half has left the Ligue 2 outfit upon the expiry of his contract.

While it’s fair to say Victor Orta has a rather mixed record in the transfer market, with Jay-Roy Grot, Pawel Cibicki and Yosuke Ideguchi still fresh in the mind, a deal to sign a 6ft 3ins man mountain for absolutely nothing could prove to be an inspired bit of business.

Le10 Sport claimed last month that Yohou had emerged as a surprise target for Leeds.

At 28 years old, the former Ivory Coast youth star is at the peak of his powers and, what’s more, he has a fan in the shape of Marcelo Bielsa.

Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that, a classy and technically gifted centre-back, Yohou looks tailor-made for ‘Bielsaball’.

He idolises Marquinhos, Leonardo Bonucci and Clement Lenglet, three of the finest ball-playing defenders in European football (Onze), and could step into a Ben White-shaped void when the Brighton loanee leaves Elland Road.

The Ligue 2 season was brought to a premature conclusion thanks to the global health crisis in April and Yohou, it seems, has played his final game for the second-tier outfit.

Paris FC have announced that Yohou is now available on a free after his contract ran down.

“Paris FC wishes to underline his commitment for the club and thanks him for his effort while wishing him the best in its next challenges.”

Could that next challenge see Yohou try and keep Leeds in the Premier League?
