West Ham United made it back-to-back wins with a victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
West Ham United defender Winston Reid has told the Daily Mail that there is a great belief in the squad after they made it back-to-back wins this weekend.
The Hammers hosted Sunderland at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to build on their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
They managed to do just that as a late goal from Reid secure them all three points with another 1-0 victory.
The result did not see them move from their 15th place in the table but it did see them extend the gap from the relegation zone to three points.
And Reid says there is a great belief among the current West Ham squad now, insisting they want to be among the top end of the table.
“Now we need to pick up more points. We’d like to be up near the top of the table,” he told the Daily Mail.
“We’ve got a young squad so it’s important that they don’t feel there is pressure on them, and a lot of us senior players have been talking about that.
“We’ve got a strong squad, we’ve got great belief and it’s nice to get back-to-back wins.”
It remains to be seen if this victory now proves to be the turning point for the Hammers after such a dismal start.
Aside from it being a second successive win, it was also their second clean sheet in as many games, which is vitally important for a team who have already conceded 17 goals this season.
They now sit just two points behind Southampton all the way up in eighth, which is a much healthier position than they sat in a week ago.
