Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has praised Manchester United defender and Arsenal’s 2022 summer transfer target Lisandro Martinez on Instagram after the defender won the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday.
Lisandro Martinez was superb for Manchester United in the final against Newcastle.
The Red Devils won the final 2-0.
It is the first trophy at club level that Martinez has won since joining United from Ajax in the summer of 2022.
According to The Guardian, Manchester United paid Ajax £48.3 million in transfer fees for the defender.
The 25-year-old Argentina international had the chance to move to Arsenal last summer.
Bas Schothorst, one of the 25-year-old’s representatives (Voetbal Primeur), said that Arsenal wanted to sign the defender, but he moved to United as he knew Ten Hag well from their time together at Ajax.
Martinez won the Eredivisie with Ajax twice and helped Argentina win the 2022 Qatar World Cup as well as the 2021 Copa America.
