The Athletic have reported today that reported Leeds United target Luis Diaz wanted to join Rafael Benitez’s Everton in the summer transfer window.
What’s the story?
It has been reported that Everton were keen on signing Diaz from FC Porto in the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old winger Colombia international winger was keen on the move to Everton.
However, the Porto star had lost hope of making the switch to the Toffees by summer transfer deadline day.
The report has added that Diaz’s wage demands were too high for Everton, and Porto also wanted a lot in transfer fees.
Leeds United interest
Diaz was also on the radar of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.
Record reported this week that Leeds wanted to sign Diaz before they brought Daniel James from Manchester United on summer transfer deadline day.
We covered the report here on HITC Sport.

January transfer possible?
Now, given that Leeds signed James from United, it is unlikely that they will want to sign another winger in the January transfer window.
Remember, Raphinha and Jack Harrison are the other wingers in Bielsa’s squad, and Rodrigo can also operate out wide.
Perhaps Everton could make a move for the Colombian in January, especially if the team do well under Benitez and are in and around the European places in the Premier League table at the time.
