Wolves were linked with a move for Iuri Medeiros.

Wolves linked winger Iuri Medeiros has clinched a loan move away from Sporting Club de Portugal – but he isn’t heading to Molineux.

Medeiros has signed a deal with Serie A side Genoa until the end of the season, Portuguese newspaper A Bola confirm.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claimed last summer that Wolves were keen on a move for the Portugal under-21 international.

He elected to stick it out with Sporting, but after being handed only six starts this past season, he sensibly chose to seek a loan move.

A move to Wolves in the future remains possible as his Genoa switch is only temporary, but the Championship side did not make a big effort to bring him in this January.

Wolves are top of the table but lost at the weekend to Nottingham Forest.

Medeiros was not essential to their chances, but the extra competition would not have hurt.
