Ferran Torres and FC Barcelona have taken a significant step in a January transfer with the two parties agreeing on a five-year contract.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Manchester City winger has reached an agreement with the La Liga giants ahead of the winter transfer window. As per the report, the only thing missing is a fee, with the Premier League demanding €50m (£43m).
Indeed, given Barcelona’s atrocious financial situation, the Catalan club won’t be able to pay for this transfer fee in one payment, with Xavi Hernandez’s side likely to pay for Torres in instalments.
Torres has spent the majority of this season on the injury table. Indeed, despite performing well for City since signing in 2020, it appears that the club are open to selling the youngster to Barcelona in the summer.
The 21-year-old will likely be sold for a profit if Barcelona can pay the full £43m for Torres, and this money could be put towards signing a natural striker in 2022, something City have not had since the departure of Sergio Aguero.
Whilst the youngster has impressed for City, fans on social media are just hoping this transfer saga can be wrapped up quickly, with supporters now sick of the slow progression this move is seemingly taking.
