Darren Bent has sparked a number of football fans to react on social media after claiming on talkSPORT that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is the best player in the Premier League.
The former England striker feels Salah has been unplayable so far this season and could boast an even greater record.
Salah scored his fifth goal of the campaign on Friday as Liverpool drew 3-3 at Brentford. He has now found the back of the net in each of his last four Premier League appearances.
Salah has so far only failed to score in the top-flight this term when Liverpool beat Burnley 2-0 last month. But has responded remarkably well to enjoy his prolific vein of form lately.
His goal against Brentford on Friday night also moved the Egyptian onto 100 career Premier League goals for the Reds. A record that even took Jurgen Klopp by surprise, having struck triple digits in just 151 games.
Salah also found the back of the net to draw the Anfield outfit level with AC Milan in the Champions League group stage a fortnight ago, before Jordan Henderson’s winner.
Bent lauds Liverpool star Salah
Bent believes Salah has been unplayable so far this term and believes the Liverpool winger is not only the best player currently in the Premier League, but one of the all-time greats.
“For me, yeah, 100%, I think he’s been superb again this season,” Bent said. “He’s got five Premier League goals in his first six games, got a couple in the cups, as well.
“He just looks like he’s getting better and better, the pace, the energy. And if you look at the chances he’s missed, he could be on double that.”
Adding: “Put it this way, he’d get in my all-time Premier League XI on the right-hand side. I rate him that highly. [Kevin] de Bruyne’s been very good, but Salah this season has been unplayable.”
Fans react to lavish praise for Salah
But not all fans reacting on social media shared Bent’s lavish praise for Liverpool star Salah. Instead, some questioned how the former Sunderland striker rates him so highly and listed a raft of alternative praise-worthy options.
Some did agree with Bent’s suggestion that he is the best around right now, however. Given how strongly Salah has started the season to help Liverpool top the table.
