Ross Wilson will study possible loan moves for in-demand Rangers outcast Jack Simpson during the January transfer window to secure the defender valuable game time this season.
That’s according to the Daily Record, who report Wilson is considering sending the 25-year-old away from Ibrox. He has so far failed to find a way into Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side, with no appearances since the Dutchman took over from Steven Gerrard in Glasgow yet.
Simpson also amassed just four outings under Gerrard this term, of which he only started two. His sole Premiership start also came in September during the sixth game of the term.

Van Bronckhorst additionally felt fit to leave Simpson out of his squad in his first six games as Rangers’ manager. The centre-half only forced his way into the matchday squad among the substitutes for the Gers’ last three fixtures, too.
But as Filip Helander is closing in on a return from injury, Simpson’s chances of minutes is set to regress. So, Sporting Director Wilson wants to listen to loan approaches in January.
Rangers outcast Simpson in-demand in England ahead of likely loan transfer exit
Simpson is in-demand in England ahead of the Rangers defender’s likely loan transfer exit next month. A host of Championship sides are tracking his situation and may move soon.
Additionally, The Telegraph reported earlier in December that Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City are possible suitors for Simpson. QPR are eager to improve their backline in January. But Boro and the Jacks were waiting for Rangers to decide his future.
Wilson may favour Swansea as a destination for Simpson if Rangers do grant a loan transfer next month. The Welsh outfit have the worst defensive record of the three Championship sides The Telegraph cited, after conceding 31 goals in their 22 second-tier games this term.
Middlesbrough, in contrast, have the sixth-best record among the 24 Championship sides. The Riverside natives have allowed just 24 goals in 25 games to hold a play-off position.
Simpson may struggle to force his way into the Boro backline or QPR’s. The London outfit have allowed 29 goals over 23 games and sit just a point below the promotion places.

Simpson a good fit for temporary move to Swansea?
Rangers outcast Simpson could be a good fit for Swansea with a mid-season loan transfer, then. Jacks boss Russell Martin will be keen to better their record, and can use the talent Eddie Howe lauded before the centre-half left Bournemouth for Ibrox earlier this year.
“He’s got that rare composure on the ball,” former Cherries boss Howe told the Daily Echo of Simpson last year. “I remember one of the early performances he gave at Chelsea. [It was] as good a performance I’ve seen with the ball from a centre-half in a long, long time.
“He’s got that ability to find passes under pressure. He seems to rise to the occasion, which is a great quality to have mentally. Physically he’s good. He is 6 foot 3, he can head the ball and is athletic. He does have everything – the only thing missing for Jack is the experience.”
