Arsenal are sitting pretty atop their Europa League group after a late Olivier Giroud goal secured a 1-0 victory at Red Star Belgrade.

Giroud’s strike was pretty special as well as he turned in a Theo Walcott knockdown with an overhead kick in a move that was instigated by Jack Wilshere.

Wilshere has played all three of the Gunners’ European games this season, starting the last two, after returning from a hairline fracture to his leg.

And against Red Star and BATE Borisov in particular the midfielder has greatly impressed with his creativity and driving runs forward, leading many to question why Arsene Wenger has not reinstated him in his Premier League team.

Wilshere’s future at the Emirates Stadium is in serious doubt after being sent on loan to Bournemouth last term and struggling to get regular game time under Wenger this time around.

It is a situation that the Times reports has lead the 25-year-old to consider his future with the North Londoners, especially when he has ambitions of making England’s World Cup squad next summer, and the Daily Star claims West Ham United have shown interest as a result.

There have been some legitimate concerns among Hammers fans about Wilshere’s poor record when it comes to fitness, but even so the quality the Englishman has shown in recent times means the East London club should not hesitate signing him if the opportunity arises.
