Wilshere joined Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal from Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
The England international midfielder has revealed the conversation he had with Afobe before his switch to the Cherries.
The 23-year-old striker has been on the books of Bournemouth since January 2016 when he joined them from Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Englishman played with Wilshere at the Arsenal youth teams and wanted him to move to the Vitality Stadium.

“Benik is my best friend,” Wilshere told The Sun. “We have been in contact ever since he has been here and he has only got good things to say about Bournemouth.
“As soon as I found they were interested this was where I was coming. I phoned him and said I was going to meet with the manager and he was saying ‘You’ve got to come here, you’ve got to come here’.”

Wilshere is a very good midfielder, and the move to Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal is going to help him develop his career.
The 24-year-old has suffered with injury problems for the past few seasons, but his talent is undeniable.
Bournemouth have not made a good start to the 2016-17 Premier League campaign and could find themselves fighting against relegation to the Championship.
Eddie Howe’s side will take on West Bromwich Albion at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League after the international break.
