Brendan Rodgers Celtic side recorded a deserved win at St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
Willie Miller has stated that St Johnstone’s corner, which led to Celtic’s second goal, was ‘dreadful’ after Brendan Rodgers side secured a 2-0 win [BBC Sport] at McDiarmid Park on Sunday afternoon.
The former Aberdeen defender felt that as soon as Celtic were charging for the counter-attack, the home team were ‘struggling’ to keep up with the Scottish Premiership leaders as striker Timothy Weah made an impact from the bench.
The Paris Saint-Germain loanee was introduced by his manager after 74 minutes, with the highly-rated attacker providing James Forrest with the opening goal four minutes later before finishing off a fast counter a minute before time.
Former Scotland defender Miller provided a simple assessment of Celtic’s second goal, which helped them all but secure the three points on the day.
“It was a dreadful corner by St Johnstone and from then on they were struggling,” Miller told BBC Sport. “But it’s a great move by Celtic and a good finish by Timothy Weah.”
Since joining the club in January, Weah has played five matches in all competitions for his new side, scoring three goals and providing one assist, according to transfermarkt.
The highly-rated 18-year-old will now be hoping to add to that tally when Celtic host Hibernian on Wednesday night before taking on Tommy Wright’s St Johnstone again, this time in a Scottish Cup Fifth Round encounter.
As a result of that victory, Celtic open up a six-point lead on their title rivals, with Rangers sitting in second place and Aberdeen in third.
As for St Johnstone, they have suffered three consecutive defeats on the bounce, two at the hands of Celtic, with Wright’s side sitting sixth in the table.
