Rangers have been pretty quiet during this month’s transfer window, but they have struck one deal this week.
The Gers have confirmed the signing of winger Scott Wright from Aberdeen, tying him down to a pre-contract agreement.
The 23-year-old is in the final six months of his deal at Aberdeen, meaning he was able to sign a pre-contract elsewhere.
Rangers have swooped in to sign Wright, and he will head to Ibrox at the end of the season as things stand.
Steven Gerrard’s men could still try to work out a permanent deal right now though, having done similar for Glen Kamara in 2019.
Aberdeen seemingly want to keep Wright until the summer, but if Rangers put money on the table, their resolve could be tested.
Now, Aberdeen legend Willie Miller has told the Evening Express that he thinks a ‘clean break’ is needed, and that Wright’s mind is made up about being a Rangers player now.

Miller feels that the Rangers deal will be a distraction if Wright stays put, and feels that Aberdeen need the cash having brought the winger through their youth ranks.
“Although Wright could still contribute for the Reds in the second half of this season, the 23-year-old he has made his mind up that he’s joining Rangers,” said Miller. “Now that his mind is made up I think a clean break would be best for everyone.”
“If the Scotland Under-21 international does remain at Pittodrie, where he is going next can be an unnecessary distraction in the background. That’s why a clean break this month may be best, but if a deal is to be struck it needs to be one that suits Aberdeen. A lot of money is spent on youth development to bring through players like Wright, so the Dons will be looking for some kind of return as he moves on,” he added.
