Glasgow Rangers winger Daniel Candeias has been playing well for Graeme Murty’s Ibrox club this season.
Willie Johnston has spoken highly of Rangers winger Daniel Candeias to The Daily Record.
The 71-year-old former Rangers star, who started his professional club football career at the Gers and had two separate spells at Ibrox, seems to rate the winger highly.
Johnston, though, has pointed out that the 30-year-old Portuguese winger, who recently signed a new contract with Rangers, needs to work on his final pass into the opposition box.
“I’ve seen Candeias regularly and I’m a fan,” Johnston told The Daily Record. “He has been great and works hard for the team. He has also adapted really well to a new country and style of play.
“He’s a grafter and doesn’t shirk his defensive duties either. He’s up and down that wing all day and never hides.
“However, the quality of his final pass into the box could be better. There are times he hits the first and second defender with his cross.”
Quality player
Candeias joined Rangers from Portuguese giants Benfica in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £700,000.
The 30-year-old winger has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 29 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Gers so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Rangers are unlikely to catch Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership this season, but Graeme Murty’s side can certainly clinch the runners-up spot.
