According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Tammy Abraham this summer, and one player who may be very happy about that is Willian.
The Brazilian of course knows Abraham very well from their time together at Chelsea, and the winger certainly rates Abraham highly.
Indeed, the Arsenal man once tipped Abraham to become one of the best strikers in the world, claiming that he has the potential to be even better than Fernando Torres, another of his ex-Chelsea teammates.
What was said?
Willian had nothing but good things to say about Abraham when speaking to the Evening Standard.
“He can become one of the best strikers in the world,” said Willian.
“He is only 22 and he has everything.
“I’ve played with good players, good strikers like Diego Costa and Fernando Torres. Now Tammy can become one of the best.
“I don’t know if he can be better than them, but I think he can, potentially. He just has to improve every day because in football you need to do that.”
Better than Torres?
If Willian is correct and Abraham does grow to become better than Fernando Torres than Arsenal need to make their move.
Torres was of course one of the best strikers of his generation, and Willian has seen something in Abraham that makes him think he can hit those heights.
The England international is still only young, so there’s a lot of room to grow there, and his goal return under Frank Lampard at Chelsea was very impressive.
It will take a lot to surpass Torres’ achievements, but Willian clearly believes he has what it takes to be an absolute star.
