Sunderland are set to welcome back Jonny Williams from injury and the midfielder’s return will undoubtedly be a huge boost for the club.

Williams, who is on loan from Crystal Palace, has been sidelined since November with a shoulder problem but is back in training ahead of schedule and is nearing a return to action, as reported by Shields Gazette.

Prior to being sidelined, the Wales international had produced some encouraging performances for Sunderland, impressing with his passing and dribbling.

Sunderland, having lost three of their last four Championship games, are certainly in need of an extra creative spark, and Williams, who has excellent technique, is capable of solving that problem.

Williams has previously gained experience during loan spells at Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest and MK Dons, and will be determined to make a major impact during the remainder of his time at Sunderland as he looks to provide another indication of the quality that he possesses.

It is certainly clear that Williams will want to avoid being part of a side that is relegated, although Sunderland, who are bottom of the Championship, have much work to do in order to stay up.
