The former French under-21 international has been released by Antalyaspor.
Marseille’s French midfielder William Vainqueur
The January transfer window has come to an end but that does not mean player recruitment has to come to an end. Leeds United can still go out and bring in players this month as long as they are free agents.
One name on the free agent list that might interest Leeds is that of French midfielder William Vainqueur. The former French under-21 international was released earlier this week after a spell with Turkish side Antalyaspor. He joined them after spells at Marseille, Roma and Dynamo Moscow and is a versatile midfield option who can operate in a defensive or attacking capacity.
He would be a fantastic acquisition for any Championship side and add depth to the Leeds team across a number of different positions.

Also, Leeds have an edge if they did decide to pursue his signature.
Vainqueur is represented by the French football agent Meissa N’Diaye. He represents a number of French-based players including some that will be familiar to Leeds fans.

He is the agent for Cardiff City defender Sol Bamba, who is a former Leeds captain. He is also the agent of two current Leeds players. Winger Hadi Sacko is a client of his and he masterminded Amadou Haidara’s shock move to the West Yorkshire club – so there are clearly good links between the club and the agent.
Vainqueur will be on the hunt for a new club and plenty of teams will be interested in signing him. Leeds should be one of them and they would have a distinct advantage in making first contact.
