Norwich City are reportedly about to sign a player who Leeds United were once linked to.

According to France Football, Legia Warsaw centre-back William Remy will sign a three-and-a-half year deal with Norwich.

This is a player who Leeds’ Director of Football Victor Orta reportedly wanted once upon a time and, fast forward 18 months, they need him more than ever.

L’Equipe claimed that the Whites tried to sign Remy – then of Montpellier – on the last day of the summer transfer window in 2017, but failed.

Much has been made over Leeds’ crisis of centre-back options in recent months and it just wouldn’t reflect well on Orta if the 27-year-old dazzles in the Championship.

After all, Norwich are only two points behind the Championship leaders and if Remy adapts well and quickly, it’s only bad for the Elland Road outfit.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have shipped eight goals in their last three games – all defeats – and a commanding presence like Remy would have been welcome in each of them.

If Leeds don’t win promotion to the Premier League come May, it’ll be because the defence was never sorted out this month and what a kick in the teeth it’ll be if the player they needed, Remy, goes up with the Canaries.
