West Ham United have been linked with the Portuguese international and he would be a superb addition.

Earlier this summer, West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic told the London Evening Standard that he did not expect any more “exciting” signings to arrive at the London Stadium in the current transfer window, but does the latest rumour suggest he was holding back in that regard?

After all, the Daily Mail claims the Hammers are preparing a £25million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, and given the 25-year-old’s innate talent he would be every inch as exciting in his own way as the likes of Joe Hart and Javier Hernandez.

William has been linked with a move to England ever since he burst onto the scene at Sporting four years ago.

Time and again those rumours have proved to be nothing more than paper-talk, but Hammers fans will be hoping this is different, especially with the prospect of the Portuguese international replacing the much maligned Mark Noble in West Ham’s starting line-up.

While Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic are the exciting goal-scoring options West Ham fans have been craving, William would be the rock in front of their back line that give them a solidity they have lacked for much of Bilic’s time at the club thus far.

Still to reach his peak, the Sporting player could prove to be an absolutely steal at £25million given the otherwise inflated market West Ham are operating in.

Only time will tell is this plays out, but if it does Bilic will be bringing in at least one more very exciting addition.
