Tottenham Hotspur have a huge match this week and two weekend substitutes could play a vital role.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino made some big decisions for the weekend clash against Manchester United, leaving his impressive summer signing Davinson Sanchez on the bench alongside his only available striker in the form of Fernando Llorente.
Unfortunately for Spurs, things did not go according to plan, with a late Anthony Martial goal condemning them to defeat. However the two weekend substitutes could use that snub as motivation for the upcoming clash against Real Madrid.
Sanchez came of age against the Spanish giants in the reverse fixture, proving just what an outstanding signing he has been for Pochettino’s side, while Llorente seized a rare chance to shine from the outset at the Bernabeu.
If Tottenham opt for the same line-up that worked so effectively earlier this month, both Sanchez and Llorente can expect to start and they could prove to be vital yet again.
Llorente’s experience playing against Spanish opponents cannot be understated while Sanchez kept some of the best forwards in the business quiet and he can do it again.
They may have missed out on Tottenham’s last league game, but do not expect the pair to be on the bench for long, and it will be interesting to see how they respond if they are called upon on Wednesday evening.
