Three Liverpool players are struggling with injuries with two of them ruled out.

Emre Can of Liverpool celebrates scoring his side's first goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and West Ham United at Anfield on February 24, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Liverpool’s fantastic season so far is approaching a crucial week as the Reds take on Manchester City in the Champions League.

Their preparations have not been helped by injuries, with Joel Matip, Adam Lallana and Emre Can all suffering.

Lallana was injured against Crystal Palace, with his hamstring problem potentially ruling him out of the World Cup, The Mail report.

Adam Lallana of Liverpool walks off injured during the Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Selhurst Park on March 31, 2018 in London, England.

Defender Joel Matip is set for surgery on a thigh injury and is out for the remainder of the season, The Mirror report.

Emre Can is more of an uncertainty, after recently suffering a back injury.

The Liverpool Echo report he is losing his battle to be fit for this evening’s Champions League clash with Manchester City.

How does this affect Liverpool?

Lallana will be the player missed the least, not because of a lack of quality, but because Liverpool have become used to being without him.

The 29-year-old has made just one Premier League start this season and their attack has remained prolific. It will stay just as dangerous while he sits on the sidelines, and provides youngster Ben Woodburn with the chance to step up if need be.

Matip will be more sorely missed, and his injury puts more pressure on Dejan Lovren.

If anything happens to Lovren or Virgil van Dijk then it could be left to Ragnar Klavan to play a prominent role.

Liverpool still have hope over Emre Can, but his injury is a blow if he misses the City game. When Liverpool beat City 4-3 in January he was one of the best players on the pitch.

His absence will put more pressure on his teammates to step up, and if they cannot produce without him, their need to sign a replacement this summer will heighten as his contract expires.
