Will Tottenham live to regret losing out on Kundai Benyu to Celtic?

Celtic are set to beat Tottenham to Ipswich prospect Kundai Benyu.

Last summer Celtic beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of young French striker Moussa Dembele.

Dembele went onto establish himself as a top star, netting 32 goals including strikes in the Champions League against Manchester City.

Now it appears they have beaten Spurs again in the transfer market, this time to the signature of Kundai Benyu.

Celtic have won the race to sign attacking midfielder Benyu from Ipswich Town, the Scottish Sun report.

The Mail reported just last month that Tottenham Hotspur were long term admirers of the player and had made an approac to try and sign him.

Camden born Benyu is a bright prospect at 19, but is also unproven at the top level. That can quickly change.

He is a project for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic rather than a ready made star, and may not have the same immediate impact as Dembele.

Benyu will stand a better chance though of getting into their side than Tottenham’s, but if the North London side watch him develop into a top star in Scotland they could really live to regret not snapping him up now.

The success of Dele Alli goes to show that a lower league gamble can reap huge dividends. It was a low risk move to make to get Benyu which may go down as an opportunity missed.
