The young Everton midfielder deserves chances but has been used sparingly to date.

While Everton have struggled for every last point this season, their fans have been calling for significant changes in the starting XI with the midfield coming in for particular criticism.
Both Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye have under-performed in recent weeks, while exciting youngster Tom Davies has had to make do with a bit-part role.

However Gueye’s sending off against Arsenal on Sunday means a subsequent suspension, and that could give Davies the ideal opportunity to prove his worth to under-fire boss Ronald Koeman.
The Everton manager has, somewhat understandably, put his faith in more experienced players as the club’s struggles continue. And yet he would be much better off picking some of the next generation, with Davies, Ademola Lookman and Jonjoe Kenny all deserving regular starts.

Davies proved his worth last season but this time round he has been used predominantly from the bench, even when Everton’s midfield has been screaming for a reshuffle.
Schneiderlin has been particularly poor but Gueye has not been much better and now Koeman has the chance to throw Davies into the firing line from the outset and hopefully watch him shine.
He may only be 19, but the Everton youngster is the real deal and he can help the club out of their current predicament, if his teammates follow suit.
