Many point to transfers as one of the biggest downfalls for Slaven Bilic during his West Ham United tenure.
West Ham sacked Bilic following a torrid start to the season which culminated in the 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool last time out.
The Hammers acted swiftly to bring in David Moyes 24 hours later against a backdrop of anger and apathy from supporters.
That has subsided somewhat now with many sceptical fans liking Moyes’ bullish attitude in his interviews and press conference so far.
The proof will be on the pitch, though, with the Scot’s first match away to Watford next Sunday.
Speculation has already been rife over who Moyes might bring in to help keep the East Londoners up when the transfer windows opens in January.
And when it comes to transfers at there will be one big difference between Moyes and Bilic at West Ham.
Under Bilic fans were never sure who was making the signings and what the club’s transfer policy was.
Indeed the blame for poor signings seemed to rest at the door of Bilic while the owners often took credit for any successful stories, like Dimitri Payet.
David Sullivan heads up West Ham’s transfers alongside chief talent spotter Tony Henry.
Moyes enjoyed a strong and effective relationship with Henry during his time at Everton and is happy to work alongside the head of recruitment when targeting players.
The mutual trust between Moyes and Henry will surely mean the club is pulling in the same direction when it comes to signing players, something that couldn’t be said under Bilic.
Indeed Bilic made clear his frustration with the West Ham hierarchy when it came to recruitment, commenting that whenever he was close to signing a player he wanted, three or four alternatives were often thrown into the mix at the last minute, as reported by the Guardian at the time.
And that could help the Hammers get important deals over the line more efficiently.
