Is the Gunners legend going to form a dream partnership with Robin van Persie?

The dream scenario could be about to come true for Arsenal fans.

Henry has been spending time training with Arsenal the last fortnight after the American league entered the off-season.

Former defender Martin Keown said this weekend that the squad are struggling to get the ball off the French legend, and that he believes Wenger should strongly consider a deal.

Surely if a resolution can be reached then it is a no-brainer.

Obviously Henry has a contract with the New York Red Bulls and the Big Apple is where he will be come March.

But it has become common for MLS players to train and even play for two months in Europe to keep their fitness levels up.

Two high profile cases are LA Galaxy’s David Beckham joining AC Milan for two monhs, and Landon Donovan playing in the Premier League for Everton.

As New York’s most expensive player, they will understandably be concerned about risk of injury, but injuries could just as easily happen in training, look at Dean Ashton’s career-ending ankle break.

Wenger must do his utmost to make the deal happen.

The timing would be perfect, Henry has just had a statue unveiled to him outside the Emirates, and will want to give even more back to the club and fans.

Many have quipped the statue would be more effective than van Persie back-up, Marounae Chamakh. Imagine what having the real thing would do for Arsenal’s confidence and striking options.

The club are on a run, winning 22 out of 24 Premier League points after experiencing their worst ever start to the season.

Fans are now beginning to whisper quietly about a title charge, and who better than to propel them back into the race than the fleeting arrival of their hero?

Even if Henry is used as a cameo substitute off the bench, he has the quality to turn games and put the fear into the opposition.

The deal can happen, but it is up to Arsenal to negotiate with the New York Red Bulls in order to make it a reality.
