Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Pep Lijnders has given away a bit of insight into the Reds’ starting Xi against Norwich.
Lijnders has been on media duties ahead of the Carabao Cup fixture, and he says that Caoimhin Kelleher will be starting in goal on Tuesday.
Indeed, the Dutchman says that Kelleher will be chosen ahead of Alisson Becker as the Merseyside outfit look set to name a rotated XI.
What’s been said?
Lijnders confirmed Kelleher is set to be named in goal for the Reds against the Canaries.
“Ali didn’t play one time in the League Cup I think, so I think it’s quite clear Caoimhin will start tomorrow,” Lijnders said.

Liverpool’s number two
Liverpool have plenty of goalkeeping options with the likes of Adrian and Loris Karius deputising behind Alisson, but it seems as though Kelleher has well and truly emerged as the Reds’ number two.
It’s a competitive spot, but the Irishman has made it his own in recent months, and Liverpool fans can rest easy knowing they finally have a competent backup behind the Brazilian.
Alisson has had his injury problems in recent times, and it’s no coincidence that his time out of the team has often coincided with poor runs of form. However, the higher-ups at Anfield now seem to have more confidence in Kelleher.
Let’s see whether or not the goalkeeper can impress against Norwich on Tuesday evening.
