The Leeds United winger is currently on loan at Charlton Athletic but he has struggled for minutes thus far.
When Leeds United winger Jordan Botaka joined Charlton Athletic on loan back in the summer, it looked like a move that would suit all parties.
However, despite his box of tricks the wide man has struggled for game-time at The Valley, featuring just eight times to date and clocking up only 79 minutes in all competitions.
That is a terrible return for a player once tipped to take Elland Road by storm, and if it had continued his time in England was surely coming to an end.
However, Botaka may have just received a lifeline following Charlton’s decision to part company with manager Russell Slade.
The Addicks are 15th in League One, far below what was expected of them this season; and while frustrations remain regarding the club’s owners, a new manager could give Botaka a second wind, finally allowing him to show what he can do when played on a regular basis.
Botaka started to show that at Leeds when he took on board former manager Steve Evans’ criticism and came back fighting.
That led to a run of three straight appearances at the backend of last season, but new Leeds boss Garry Monk had his own plans, sending Botaka out on loan in the process.
It remains to be seen if the DR Congo international has any kind of future at Elland Road.
However, if he plays regularly at Charlton from now until the end of the campaign he will at least have given himself a chance; something he was not afforded under Slade.
