The Glasgow Rangers youngster was outstanding in midfield this week.

Rangers’ interim manager Graeme Murty will know he is on borrowed time at Ibrox and yet, whenever he finally leaves his current role, he can do so knowing he has done the best for the club.
In fact, he may have just left one hell of a parting gift for the incoming boss, with his decision to play Ross McCrorie in midfield against Aberdeen resulting in one of the Gers’ best performances this season.

The 19-year-old has been a regular at centre-back for Rangers this season, but on Wednesday night’s evidence he should be one of the first names on the team sheet in a more advanced position.
McCrorie was simply sensational alongside Ryan Jack and Jason Holt and that should be the trio Rangers opt for until Graham Dorrans returns from injury.

Even then, McCrorie deserves to keep his spot, and while his versatility means he is likely to feature plenty more times at the back for Rangers in the years to come, his best position already looks like being in midfield.
With the steel, determination and innate talent required to succeed in that area, it seems whoever takes over at Rangers for the long haul has just inherited a wonderful midfield option.
