The Senegalese forward may struggle for minutes at Leeds United following a number of new arrivals.
Leeds United have added a number of new players to their ranks in recent days, with the most exciting unquestionably Kemar Roofe.
The 23-year-old arrived at Elland Road from Oxford United after scoring 25 goals and providing 12 assists for the League Two club last season.
While a move to the Championship is a considerable step up, anyone who watched Roofe last season will know he has what it takes to be an instant hit at Leeds, and that could spell bad news for one player in particular.
Souleymane Doukara will have watched with interest as Leeds signed first Marcus Antonsson and now Roofe, with the Senegalese forward forgiven for wondering what his future now holds.
The departure of Mirco Antenucci and another loan move for Lee Erwin means Doukara may still get minutes next season – injuries and absences permitting – yet Roofe’s arrival may have been the final nail in the coffin if the 24-year-old wants to make any meaningful impact at the Whites next season.
With Wood, Antonsson and Roofe all competing for a forward role and the latter also very comfortable on the wing, Doukara may wonder where his next start will come, especially with Hadi Sacko arriving on loan and fellow winger Jordan Botaka hoping to make more of an impact next season.
There were times last season when Doukara showed flashes of brilliance. But those moments were all too brief and it would be no surprise if Leeds manager Garry Monk said goodbye to the fringe man in the coming weeks.
