Everton signed plenty of players this summer but are lacking a quality goal-scorer.

Everton’s search for a new permanent manager goes on following the sacking of Ronald Koeman earlier this month, and the Dutchman’s biggest failure could have a direct impact on who ultimately replaces him at Goodison Park.
While Everton will be a huge job for many managers, if the Toffees’ hierarchy are thinking big they could be hindered by their lack of a quality centre forward until January at the earliest.

Koeman’s failure to replace last season’s top-scorer Romelu Lukaku has blighted Everton all season, and a man like Carlo Ancelotti is unlikely to sign up for a job where goals could be a rarity until the turn of the year.
The problem for Everton, as their fans were quick to point out, is too many number 10s and no one to put the finishing touch to their work, while a lack of pace has also caused plenty of problems.

Oumar Niasse has done well when called upon while returning son Wayne Rooney has played his part, but Everton need a prolific front man who scores more often than not and Koeman left them somewhat high and dry by failing to buy said player when he had the chance.
One of the key factors to be discussed in any meeting with a potential new boss is sure to be the money available in January to rectify the problem. However one wonders if an issue likely to stretch beyond the festive period could rule at least some out of the running.
