Ally McCoist’s comments on Celtic forward Moussa Dembele may simply spur him on.
Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist
Ally McCoist has raised the stakes ahead of Celtic’s clash with Rangers by criticising forward Moussa Dembele.
Dembele has scored for fun this season, bagging a hat-trick in his first game against the Gers back in September.
Speaking to the Glasgow Evening Times, McCoist claimed there was no way Dembele was worth £30 million let alone £40 million.
He said: “Moussa Dembele isn’t a £30 million or £40 million player and if Peter Lawwell gets that then good on him. There’s a man doing his job very well!”
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele celebrates
Unfortunately for McCoist’s former club Rangers, his comments are only likely to spur on Dembele.
If he was not motivated enough to maintain his 100 per cent record against Rangers and put them to the sword again already, McCoist has proved him with extra reason to get up for the game.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers should be making Dembele all too aware of the comments and trying to spark the striker into a reaction.
