The Charlton Athletic player has long been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
As reported by the Independent last year, Tottenham Hotspur opted not to complete the signing of then-Fulham striker Moussa Dembele as they did not want the player to return to Craven Cottage on loan for the next six months.
When the striker’s deal came to an end, it was Celtic who swooped for the Frenchman, and the rest is history.
Dembele has gone down a storm at Celtic Park, scoring a quite remarkable 16 goals in 24 matches, including three in the Champions League.
That ship has sailed for Tottenham, but could their disappointment regarding Dembele prompt them to ensure the same does not happen with another reported target?
According to the Mirror, Tottenham have been keeping a very close eye on Charlton Athletic attacker Ademola Lookman, and they would be wise to act in January to avoid missing out on another youngster tipped to take the game by storm.
Lookman is only 19 but he has already scored 10 goals for Charlton, and his versatility – he can be used on the wing or as a central striker – means he is definitely one to watch.
With a contract until 2020 Charlton do not need to sell, but if Tottenham come in with a sizeable offer they may be unable to refuse.
Tottenham could do with more exciting wingers and Lookman would bring both that and additional goal-scoring threat – something Spurs have struggled with in the absence of Harry Kane.
So if Pochettino is serious about Lookman, he would be wise to act quickly to avoid missing out once more.
