West Ham United are said to be after Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

Pablo Zabaleta looks highly unlikely to play at West Ham United with any regularity next season, if Manuel Pellegrini’s side land Nathaniel Clyne.

Goal have claimed that West Ham are leading the race to sign Clyne, who is valued at £10 million.

And if Clyne does make the move to the London Stadium then Zabaleta’s chances of playing look very slim.

Ryan Fredericks had already moved ahead of Zabaleta in the West Ham pecking order towards the end of last season, so for another right-back to arrive would be disastrous to the Argentine’s first-team chances.

Zabaleta, who just signed a £75,000-a-week contract extension (Spotrac), seems to be being kept on at West Ham for his experience now, rather than his ability on the pitch.

The 34-year-old started to show signs of age towards the end of last season, with his pace deteriorating.

And if West Ham do bring in Clyne, then it is hard to see Zabaleta playing more than a handful of matches next season, unless an injury crisis hits.
