Leeds United have significantly strengthened in all areas but some fans feel they are still lacking sufficient strength in depth at the back.

Such has been Leeds United’s transfer window that to talk about regrets seems foolish, and yet if there is one area of the field the Whites may ultimately wish they had further strengthened it is the heart of their defence.
Securing Pontus Jansson on a permanent deal and bringing the impressive Matthew Pennington in on loan was canny, while Liam Cooper looks a different player under new Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen.

The emergence of Conor Shaughnessy and the versatility of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson means, at first glance, Leeds need not worry about their failure to sign another out-and-out centre-back, but much will depend on the availability or otherwise of Jansson as the campaign progresses.
If the Swedish international stays fit and avoids too many suspensions, Leeds appear to have relevant cover, but if Jansson is out for any length of time the pressure could be on, especially with Pennington already picking up an early injury.
Matthew Pennington arrived on loan from Everton
As reported by the Mirror earlier this summer, Leeds made contact with Bristol City over a proposed move for Aden Flint, and while his £5million price tag ultimately fended off any and all suitors, the Whites seemingly had the money after selling Chris Wood to Burnley.
With a raft of new attacking talent and quality jack-of-all-trade types such as Vurnon Anita and, to a lesser extent, Madger Gomes, Leeds had a superb transfer window.
One can only hope they are not left to rue a missed opportunity to sign Flint or another experienced centre-back who could remain for the long term, not only guiding Leeds back into the top flight but helping them stay there.
