Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp has ruled Roberto Firmino out of Liverpool’s game against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Brazilian striker has been suffering with an injury for a little while now, and sadly, his problem is keeping him on the sidelines for longer than anticipated.

The Brazilian still hasn’t been back in training, and understandably, Klopp says that he’s not available for selection against the Magpies.

What’s been said?

Klopp spoke about Firmino.

“Bobby, it’s not a serious injury. We are still kind of convinced. It’s taking longer than we all thought, especially longer than Bobby thought as well, so yeah, he will not be ready for tomorrow, Bobby didn’t train yet, we will have to get more information and find a way to get him back,” Klopp said.

Missed

Liverpool are still fighting on all fronts and we’re almost in May, so they need as many players available as possible.

Of course, Firmino isn’t one of the first names on the teamsheet at Anfield these days, but he’s still a fantastic rotation option, and with some massive games coming up, Liverpool need to strike the perfect balance when it comes to preserving their key players’ fitness.

Unfortunately, with Firmino being out, players such as Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota may be stretched in terms of the minutes they’re forced to play.

Hopefully, Firmino is back in action sooner rather than later.
