Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is said to be a fan of Watford’s Troy Deeney.

Deeney was made Newcastle’s top target during the January transfer window, as reported by The Sun, but the Magpies’ attempts to sign him were rebuffed.

Watford wanted to keep hold of the target-man at that time, and Newcastle had to look elsewhere in search of additions.

However, the Hornets are now said to be open to the idea of Deeney leaving them.
Newcastle may now be one of the more likely sides to come in for the former Walsall striker.
Rafael Benitez is known to want to add a new front man at St. James’ Park, and Deeney may well be one of the better options within his price-range.

Newcastle only have a limited budget, so finding players who are proven in the Premier League is a struggle.
Deeney only scored five goals last season, but he has got into double-figures twice in England’s top flight.
And Newcastle may believe that this summer could be the ideal time to bring Deeney to St. James’ Park.
