Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United reportedly want to sign Chelsea’s Aston Villa loanee Tammy Abraham this summer.

Tammy Abraham did not exactly endear himself to Newcastle United supporters two years ago.
According to the Mirror, Newcastle wanted to sign the highly-rated striker on loan from Chelsea after he plundered 23 goals during a spell in the Championship with Bristol City.
The report claims that Benitez was ‘desperate’ to bring Abraham to Tyneside. But, in a rather bizarre turn of events, Chelsea advised the striker to snub a move to St James’ Park and join Swansea City instead as they were worried that life in a big city would have too many distractions for a player with huge potential.
Two years on, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea’s stance has changed.
The Northern Echo reports on Friday that Newcastle are willing to renew their interest in the England international and will look to sign him if Chelsea make him available, either on loan or for a permanent deal.

There is no doubting Abraham’s goalscoring qualities these days, he has scored 25 times to fire loan club Aston Villa into the play-offs, and he could be an inspired replacement for Salomon Rondon if the Venezuelan returns to West Brom.
But Newcastle fans might need to be won over by a player who has already has a rather strange relationship with the club.
