Leeds United and Reading go head-to-head this weekend.

Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Cardiff City and Leeds United at Cardiff City Stadium on September 26, 2017 in Cardiff, Wales.

Last season, Reading manager Jaap Stam ruffled a few feathers with his comments regarding Leeds United’s playing style, suggesting they were overly defensive and not his cup of tea, so could the Dutchman be forced to eat his words when the two teams meet this weekend?

After all, no one can accuse Leeds of being defensive-minded under new manager Thomas Christiansen, with their forwards excelling, even if there is a lot of work to do after recent defeats against Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday.

While Leeds were overly reliant on Chris Wood for their goals last season, now they have an exciting array of attacking talent including Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe and Ezgjan Alioski to name a few.

And if those Leeds players who were at the club last year remember Stam’s comments, they could be about to make the one-time Manchester United centre-back eat his words.

This Leeds side is a very different beast to the one that fell away at the end of last season under the stewardship of Garry Monk.

Leeds manager Garry Monk looks on before the Sky Bet Championship match between Newcastle United and Leeds United at St James' Park on April 14, 2017 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

They are full of attacking intent and even their midfielders are getting in on the action after a barren spell last time out, with Kalvin Phillips impressing in that regard.

Leeds must ensure their recent dip in form is just a temporary blip and, with two weeks to prepare for this encounter, they could well burst out of the traps against a Reading side who will be facing anything but a team hellbent on defending.
