With Moussa Dembele recovering from injury and Leigh Griffiths unlikely to be risked due his calf problem, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers may have to turn to a 19-year-old yet to feature for the Celtic first-team but with talent in abundance.

Odsonne Edouard joined the Bhoys on loan from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day, and he could be thrust into the spotlight when Celtic face Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premiership on Friday evening.

The match is the first since the international break, and comes just three days before Celtic face Edouard’s parent club PSG in the Champions League.

With that huge match on the horizon, Griffiths looks set to sit out Friday’s encounter, and the 19-year-old could step into the gap left by the Scotland international.

With limited first-team action prior to his move to Celtic Park, Edouard will be desperate to make up for lost time and if he can settle as quickly as his countryman Dembele did before him, this could be a match made in Heaven.

Leigh Griffiths of Scotland receives treatment during the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier between Scotland and Malta at Hampden Park on September 4, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic slipped up in their last domestic match before the break, drawing 1-1 with St. Johnstone, and Rodgers will be keen to put that blip behind them.

Edouard could be vital in that regard and, if he has a dream debut, it could be the start of something great as Celtic look to not only replicate last season’s treble but also make real waves in Europe.
