What more can Louis Moult achieve at Motherwell? A move to Rangers may give him a much better chance of figthing for honours.

Brendan Rodgers has won every domestic trophy on offer at Celtic. And, since arriving at Parkhead ahead of the 2016/17 season, the Northern Irishman has not even tasted defeat on Scottish soil.
But after Celtic defeated Motherwell 2-0 in the Scottish League Cup final on Saturday, much of the talk centred on how much further Rodgers can take the all-conquering Hoops. Has he done all he can already?
Though it’s perhaps not Rodgers whose future should be questioned. Louis Moult seems certain to leave Motherwell at the end of the season with his contract expiring and no shortage of clubs chasing his signature.

And Well’s heart-breaking and contentious defeat at Hampden Park on Sunday should only have confirmed to the 25-year-old that he has probably gone as far as he can with Steve Robinson’s side.
Moult, the top scorer in Scottish football this season with eight league goals, has long since been a target for Rangers with the Scottish Sun stating that the Ibrox giants will likely make another move in January – possibly to land the former Stoke City striker on a pre-contract agreement.

And if Moult wants to add silverware to his CV, he would surely be well served swapping Motherwell for Rangers in the near future. The Light Blues may not have lifted either domestic cup since 2011 but the Ibrox giants are surely better placed than Motherwell to get their hands on a trophy in the coming years, having spent £10 million in the summer as a statement of their intent.
They have a long way to go to close the gap on Celtic but Moult should have been left in no doubt that, if it’s silverware he wants, he will have to look away from Motherwell.
