Everton defender Yerry Mina has looked shaky in recent games.

Everton spent big money luring Yerry Mina from Barcelona in August, but Marco Silva may already face a huge decision on the Colombian.

Mina had struggled with Barca following a January move from Palmeiras, but having impressed for Colombia at the World Cup, Everton splashed the cash to lure him to Goodison Park.

After an injury problem ruled him out for the first couple of months, Mina did finally make his Premier League debut for Everton in November, and initially looked strong coming in for Kurt Zouma.

Mina only got his opportunity because loanee Zouma was ineligible to face parent club Chelsea, and some fans are now calling for the Frenchman to be brought back into the side.

That’s because Mina endured a difficult outing in the 3-1 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday, as he gave away possession for Gabriel Jesus’s opener before being beaten by the Brazilian for the second goal too.

Mina wasn’t exactly secure against Watford last week either, and Silva may now need to consider taking him out of the side in order to ease him into English football having been thrown in of late.

It’s hard to bed centre backs in gradually, but taking Mina out of the firing line and bringing Zouma back into the side may be a smart decision against Tottenham and Harry Kane this weekend.

Silva couldn’t have expected this kind of dilemma when Everton paid big money for Mina, but his last couple of displays have been a little shaky – and the Toffees boss may need to reconsider his defensive options in order to get the best out of Mina for the long-term.
