Leeds United have been busy this summer but are reportedly targeting two new defenders to conclude their business.
According to a recent report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen is targeting two more signings this summer, with centre-back his sole area of focus between now and the end of the transfer window.
With Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper the only senior options currently at the club, that is no surprise, but could the fact that the Leeds boss is planning two new arrivals say something about the age of said targets?

After all, Jansson is a guaranteed starter whenever he is fit and available, while Cooper is seen by many Whites fans as a third-choice option at best.
With that in mind, an experienced defender to partner the Swedish international and potentially an up-and-coming player who would be willing to fight with Cooper for a bit-part role could be the most likely pair.
When you also factor in the YEP’s claim that Leeds are now scouring England for additional recruits, the recent reports linking them with the likes of Aden Flint and Tommy Elphick make sense.
The Bristol City defender recently liked a social media comment suggesting he should move to Elland Road this summer, while the Aston Villa man is on Leeds’ radar according to the Birmingham Mail.
If Leeds can bring in one experienced defender in his mid-to-late twenties and then another defender prepared to bide his time, that could be the best for all concerned.
In many ways Leeds need two sides for the challenges ahead, such is the competitive nature of the Championship, so even if the club cannot guarantee a young fourth-choice a regular starting spot from the outset, their chances would come in due course.
