Leeds United handed new deal to winger this weekend.
Dan James scored a terrific solo goal for Swansea City at the weekend, reminding Leeds United of the player they almost signed.
Leeds’ deal for James fell through late on deadline day, The Telegraph reported, to the fury of the Whites.
At the weekend Leeds showed commitment to another winger, handing a new deal to teenager Clarke Oduor.
Oduor, 19, made his debut for Leeds in the FA Cup against QPR in January as part of a heavily rotated team.
He has until the end of the season to try and show he can be the club’s answer to Dan James, before the Whites re-enter the transfer market in the summer.
Oduor is a left-footed winger capable of playing on both flanks, and this versatility could count in his favour.
Oduor has had a strong season for Leeds’ under-23 side, along with Robbie Gotts, who also signed a new deal at the weekend.
Leeds might have missed out on Dan James, but they have good strength in depth thanks to their academy and manager Marcelo Bielsa is not afraid to utilise it.
Jack Clarke has already broken through into the first team this season, supplementing the club’s options on the wing.
It would not be a surprise to see Oduor follow him before the end of the season.
